Staff Bulletin for the Week of May 2

Professional Time

There will be a 100 minute data team meeting this Wednesday.

BE Events for Staff and Students

AP testing begins this week.  There will be tests administered every day this week.  Ms. Tager will be sending out a reminder each evening of the tests that will be occurring the following day.    The full schedule can be viewed here  .  Please keep the following in mind:

No Bells - There will be no bells for the majority of each day, May 2nd through 13th.  Please make students aware of that change, and remind them that attendance will still be taken as usual.
Quiet Areas - The majority of testing will be in rooms 249, 245, 243, and 241.  Please be sensitive to the noise level in that hallway.  Signs will be posted on either end of the hallway, reminding students that there is testing taking place.
Homeroom - Students who are testing at 8:00 AM will be directed by their AP teachers to check-in with them for HR and drop their belongings before going to their testing locations.  Please check the daily lists to see who you may be missing from your HR.
Lunch - Students testing at 8:00 will take 2nd or 3rd lunch if their scheduled 3rd block class has already gone to lunch.  Students will then return to class following lunch.

Notes:
Guidance/Admin will be upstairs in guidance.  We'll review progress on post-build scheduling tasks.
Don't forget the Potluck on Friday night!  Come and enjoy the show but first take time on Friday evening to relax with one another!  Add to the potluck list here.

News, Notes, and Reminders

Peardeck.  As many of you know, we were able to use PearDeck this year because of a grant.  Using it next year will require we make an investment as a school.  I'd like your feedback before making that investment.  Please provide your feedback here. Even if you have not used PearDeck, please complete this quick 5 question survey.

BE Network.  Many of you enjoyed seeing each others' Bright Spots for the first half of the school year.  Sharing photos of our bright spots is challenging in the format of posting to a webpage.  For that reason, we're exploring various options of having a BE teaching bright spot network for next year, where all of you can contribute to bright spots of what is happening in your classrooms, keeping in mind restrictions on student photos.  We're wondering if a school Instagram account might work for this purpose.  For all of you who are more adept with social networking out there, please send me your input on we might be able to accomplish this goal.

Emergency procedures/safety practices.   Please review our emergency procedures, including potential evacuation scenarios.  A reminder of protocols related to the spring evacuations two years ago:  Remember that our students need to have a pass with them at all times.  You should know who has been signed out of your room, where they've went, and how long they've been gone.   At the end of the day, scan your classroom and desks for any graffiti.

Volunteers.  In the past week, Mrs. Marseglia had emailed a revised form for volunteers.  If you work with a volunteer who has regular student contact not under your direct supervision, volunteers who are responsible for students, or volunteers who take on a leadership role (mentors, volunteer coach, club leader) or plan on working with volunteers on such a basis, they'll need to complete that form.  Please contact me if you are working with a volunteer that falls into one of the above capacities.
