Professional Time

This Wednesday we will have an instructional data team meeting with 30 minutes for advisory planning from 2:55-3:25pm.

Notices and Reminders

Semester  reminder:  Please remind those students who might be on the cusp of failing for the year that there is still hope to recover given the summer school policy. As a reminder, students who pass for the semester only need to attend summer school for the semester they had failed.  The purpose of this policy was to encourage students to keep working until the end of the school year.  Now would be a great time to have some individualized conversations with students.

Heads up!  We're approaching the end of the month so you might predict a safety drill this week.  You'll want to review all emergency procedures.

Notices:

Absent students from Midterm Exams

Students who are AUX, ISS, OSS and AX should be allowed to make up their midterm exam.  Midterm exams may be made up with the teacher or arrangements could be made with administration for a student to make up the midterm after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.  Remember, unexcused does not mean that the reason for their absence is not an approved reason, it solely means that the parent has not yet submitted a written note to excuse that absence.  

Teachers should review students who have unverified absences with the students' administrator(s) to determine whether or not the student should be allowed to make up the assessment. 

Recommendations:  Please remember there are no more formal "recommendation days" so you'll need to plan this into your class meetings.   All recommendations must be completed by February 15th.    Please see resources in "Preparing for the Second Semester" if you do not recall how to enter recommendations.  Teachers new to BEHS can contact Mrs. Lucia Infante ext. 118 for directions.

Postings:   Please be sure to take down the posters for your event after the date has passed.  

Attendance:  A friendly reminder to take attendance at the end of first block and at the start of all of the other blocks.  We're hoping to be able to follow up on students who may not be signing in after coming into school after first block at the end of each day.  In order to be able to do so, we must have attendance completed for the day at 1:00pm.

Reminders for substitutes:  I've been asked to remind you that in your plans for subs, please let subs know that they cannot write passes to the library without calling the library first to be sure there is space available.
