Staff Bulletin for the Week of May 1

Professional Time

There will be a faculty meeting this Wednesday following a brief staff chat sponsored by Social Studies.

BE Events for Staff and Students

AP testing begins this week.  There will be tests administered every day this week.  Dr. Linke will be sending out a reminder each evening to share the tests that will be occurring the following day.    The full schedule can be viewed here  .  Please keep the following in mind:

No Bells - There will be no bells for the majority of each day, May 1st through May 12th. Please make students aware of that change, and remind them that attendance will still be taken as usual.

Quiet Areas - The majority of testing will be in rooms 249, 245, 243, and 241.  Please be sensitive to the noise level in that hallway.  Signs will be posted on either end of the hallway, reminding students that there is testing taking place.

Homeroom - Students who are testing at 8:00 AM will be directed by their AP teachers to check-in with them for HR and drop their belongings before going to their testing locations.  Please check the daily lists to see who you may be missing from your HR.

Lunch - Students testing at 8:00 will take 2nd or 3rd lunch if their scheduled 3rd block class has already gone to lunch.  Students will then return to class following lunch.  Lunch information will be sent as part of the evening emails regarding the testing for the following day.

Notes:
Guidance/Admin will be upstairs in guidance.  We'll set the 504 review schedule.

News, Notes, and Reminders

Emergency procedures/safety practices.   Please review our emergency procedures, including potential evacuation scenarios.  A reminder of protocols related to the spring evacuations two years ago:  Remember that our students need to have a pass with them at all times.  You should know who has been signed out of your room, where they've went, and how long they've been gone.   At the end of the day, scan your classroom and desks for any graffiti.

Evaluation Process.  Details regarding the end of year evaluation process will be reviewed at our faculty meeting.  The process can also be found on Google Drive, BEHS-Shared/Evaluation Information and Forms under End of Year.  We also wanted to remind everyone that we are cross-observing departments this year, so each of us will be conductin informal observations outside of "regular" departments.

Yearly Average Calculator:  One of our AVID teachers developed this tool for students to use to calculate the average they will need to achieve in order to meet their desired final grade.  Feel free to share with your students.  Please note that in some cases, it might not be wise to share this tool with some students so they do not completely check out of school before the end of the school year.  https://docs.google.com/a/bristolk12.org/spreadsheets/d/1eTowyr5PlYYh5rXWQ_9yBGIMx3tqbRl5D9iyk6h-408/edit#gid=0
