Staff Bulletin for the Week of February 22

Professional Time

This Wednesday we will have our instructional data team meetings.  Advisory planning time will be held from 2:55-3:25.

BE Events for Students and Staff

Notes:
Dine and Discuss will meet Monday beginning at 2:30pm in the library.  We'll be discussing the introduction and the section on guiding questions.

Admin/Guidance meeting on Tuesday will be a "catch-up" meeting--catching up on attendance concerns and policy updates.  Next week's meeting was set for "at-risk" review.  At that time, Maria Pappas will review how to interpret and plan for interventions based on the school refusal survey administered to students.

Department Chairs will meet Tuesday at 12:50pm.

Friday is our SAT Rally during second block.  Junior teachers will be asked to bring their students to the auditorium.  Teachers should remain with their students in the auditorium.

Don't forget Dress Down on Friday for Billy King ($5 is a minimum donation) and Ice Cream for Breakfast on Saturday at Dunphy's!

News and Reminders

Course Request process:  We're moving into our course request phase of scheduling.  Please remind sophomores and juniors to go into PowerSchool to enter their course requests as soon as possible. Freshmen counselors will be working with our grade 9 students to be sure they enter their requests. We'll be making sectioning decisions by the end of the month based on the number of requests we've received for each course.

Support Our Students:  Again, thank you for your very generous donations to both the Campos family and King family.  The collection box for Mario Campos will be out until Tuesday next week.  Starting  on Wednesday, we'll be collecting for this month's dress down to benefit Billy King.  The $5 donation is a minimum; all proceeds go directly to the family.  Also, this Saturday, Mr. Fuller is hosting "ice cream for breakfast day" at Dunphy's,  20% of the profits will be given to the King family.

Testing:  Please review the schedules sent by Ms. Tager for both SAT and CAPT.  Please remind students that they need to be here on March 2nd.  Their participation rate will truly affect our school.  We must have 95% attendance and we'll only have this day and April 27th to meet that goal.

Bright Spots

I haven't posted any bright spots in a while, but it hasn't been because they're not all around us!  I've been storing them up and since we could probably all use a little "brightening," I'm sharing them this week.  Keep looking for them and sending them way to share with everyone!

There were two Bristol Eastern students who stopped their cars when they saw a 2 year old girl walking alone on the side of the street.  BE kids doing the right thing!

This BE Alumnus is creating over 200 paintings for Middletown residents; paintings of their own homes, bringing art into the hearts and lives of the individuals who live there.

As my Emerson would say, "You guys are rock stars!"
