Admin/guidance will meet on Tuesday. The purpose is set to review 504's. We will also be reviewing scheduling and requests from students.
SLT is scheduled for Wednesday. Please be sure to update the School Improvement Plan.
News and Reminders
Parent Conferences: Parent Conferences will be held next week on Tuesday, March 22. It will be half day as usual. Students were mailed the information about conferences and can begin signing up with you this week (in communication that went home, Wednesday was the first day to sign up). Please let Sandi know if you have not received your appointment calendar.
Instructional Reminders: In this busy time of year of scheduling and testing, we wanted to remind you of the two instructional strategies we discussed at the beginning of the year. I Write, You Write and Write then Respond. If you are at the front of the room and choosing to write anything, students should be writing that too! If you pose a question that requires more than a yes/no answer, ask students to jot down their thoughts. You'll feel better about calling on students at random because you'll know that all should have something to contribute. Both of these strategies require that students be ready to write, which means, pencils/pen in hand and a notebook on their desk, something we want to encourage from all of our students.
Award opportunity: Liberty Bank is offering a Youth in Action award. With this award, the recipient will have the opportunity to direct a $1000 donation from Liberty Bank to a nonprofit organization of his/her choice. Every student who is nominated will receive a T-shirt and a certificate of recognition. The individual should have engaged in extensive and outstanding service that enhances the quality of life in our community. Nominations are due by March 20th. Please email me the students' names.
Community Vegetable/Fruit Garden: A BEHS alumni, now running for State Representative, Christy Matthews, is looking to bring several individuals of the Bristol community together to sponsor and support a community vegetable/fruit garden in our outdoor classroom. They intend on adding raised garden beds to plan vegetable and fruit bearing plants, and even better, they have a team of volunteers who are willing to help maintain the garden this summer. Our students will be able to have the produce grown this fall. If you're interested in helping to design or volunteer in the garden, please join us for a planning meeting on March 24th at 2:15pm.
Gentle Reminder: Please support the safety of our hallways and not allow students who leave your classroom to leave with their earbuds or headphones on. Stand at the door and while you're wishing everyone a great day, be sure to catch those who are walking out with earbuds in.
Scheduling: Department chairs and administration will begin working on sectioning this week. Please be sure you have submitted your preferences.
