Professional Time:

There will be no Wednesday meeting this week since we will be holding parent conferences from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday.  Enjoy your afternoon.

 News and Announcements:

Shhh!  Officer Sassu welcome on Monday morning, March 23rd in honor of his receipt of the Officer of the Year award that evening.  First period teachers, please meet your classes in the gym.  Our band will be playing and we're looking forward to students lining the halls in honor of his contributions to the school.

Announcements:  Announcements are creeping in at all times of day. Please try to make all club and activity announcements through the morning system of asking Janet and Wendy to post on our announcement page and slide show.  If you do require an announcement to be read at the end of the day, please email me and I'll approve our secretaries to read them at the end of the day.

Skinny block attendance:  We're discovering an issue with skinny block attendance.  Our policy for all students who arrive late is that they should go directly to first block class unless they arrive after first block has ended and then they need to report to the front office.  With skinny blocks, students who arrive after their first period class and go directly to their second period class, it appears as though the student is absent for his/her daily attendance (since our attendance is collected off of period one).  Skinny block first period teachers, if a student arrives to your period 2 class without having attended period one, please email the teacher and Sophie Miller so the daily attendance can be corrected.

Videos:  During the scheduling process, so many of our students, incoming grade 8 up to grade 11 had questions about courses. I do know we provide a description of the course in the program of studies, but we were thinking it could also be very helpful for students to have a digital "window" into the class.  Mr. Savvides class can come to film you and/or your students talking about the class and/or a video of the class itself, which we could then hyperlink to the course information in the electronic version of the Program of Studies.  Then, when students have questions about what the course is like, they could watch the video.  Please email Mr. Savvides if you're interested.

Professional Time:

This Wednesday afternoon we will have our Instructional Data Team meetings.  Data teams working on unit planning and assessment design should continue their work.  Guidance will work together as one data team.  Special education will continue their work developing or modifying vocabulary units.  Art, Music, and PE will meet in city-wide departments.

 News and Announcements: 

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in helping our students have the best test setting possible on Thursday, March 19th.  I know our science department takes pride in how our students perform on the test.  We appreciate your efforts in helping to proctor, provide relief, or simply maintaining a quiet testing environment for our students.

Lots of fun this week:  We have the musician and song-writer performing for students on Monday during second block, the Shamrock luncheon this Tuesday and special presentations for juniors and seniors this Wednesday and our student talent show on Thursday evening.    Please join in on any of these community building events.

Possible drill:  We are likely to have a drill in the next two weeks to satisfy the district requirement of at least one per month.  Please review your emergency procedures.

Scheduling.  Department chairs have been given the numbers of students requesting courses and will be working on determining the number of sections for each course.

Gentle Reminder:  Please support the safety of our hallways and not allow students who leave your classroom to leave with their earbuds or headphones on.

Project Graduation will meet Wednesday night, 3/18, at 6:30pm in the library.
Please stop by McDonalds on Wednesday from 4:30-7:30pm to support Project Graduation.  If you see me there eating some french fries, promise not to tell!
