Welcome back and Happy New Year!

We hope you enjoyed the time with family and friends this holiday break.  We're happy to back with you!

This Wednesday we will be meeting in instructional data teams.  At this meeting, we'll be reviewing some necessary work to be completed within Bloomboard.  We'll meet by area of supervision as follows.  Guidance counselors will meet in the group with their supervising administrator and will not meet as a data team.

  • English and Math departments:  in the library with Carly (English to bring Chromebook cart)
  • Social Studies,  World Language, LMC:  in room 245 with Mike (Please bring Chromebook carts)
  • Science and CATE:  in room 116 or 139 with Debbie (Science to bring Chromebook cart if in room 139)

If Art and Music teachers are not meeting in city-wide departments, we would like Art to join Debbie in room 116 or 139 and Music to join Mike in room 245.

BE Events to Support Our Students

Announcements

Please welcome:  Penny Borovsky, our new Speech and Language pathologist!  She will be located in room 133 and can be reached by calling 133.

We will also be welcoming an English teacher, guidance counselor and building intern in the next two weeks once they're hiring is finalized.  We'll introduce all at our next faculty meeting.

Math Lab Opens!  After two years of development, the math lab is finally opened!  The math computer lab is located in room 206.  Math teachers will schedule time in this lab first before using other computer labs in the building.  Due to their use of Carnegie, this lab will be reserved for math only.

Coming soon!  The custodial team has been working hard to create a functioning set of mens' and womens' student bathrooms next to room 200.  You can expect in the next two weeks that we'll open the bathrooms upstairs to reduce the flow of traffic between levels.

Coming soon!  On the afternoons of January 6th and 7th, ten more Wireless Access Points will be installed in various classrooms, expanding the reach of our wireless internet accessibility.

Reminders and Due Dates:

Tutoring Center/Academic Support; Ms. Tager, Mrs. Gammons, Dr. Bittel and NHS students have been working hard to revitalize the NHS tutoring center and procedures.  Students can now access this academic support in the libraryTeachers can recommend students to Academic Support for additional support prior to midterms.

Midyear Conferences:  We will be scheduling our midyear conferences between January 8-23.

Sunshine Fund for Students: As I hear about students who are encountering some very significant losses in their lives or are dealing with extended illnesses, I was wondering if faculty would like to contribute to a sunshine fund for them much like the one we have for each other.  That way, we can consistently express our thoughts as a school and each student would have similar recognition.  If you are interested, please consider contributing $5.

Newsletter:  We're not having a monthly newsletter this year, but rather a seasonal one.  If you have an item for the winter (Nov-February) newsletter, please email me by January 15.

Student of the Month:    Do not miss this opportunity to recognize those students who have demonstrated our core expectations around responsibility and respect.  Please be sure to enter your nominations here for student of the month:  https://docs.google.com/a/bristolk12.org/forms/d/1-i7HpozrADx3bkvDKSwqJFWqgK3IbpFKIxU7sxcYM_0/viewform
